Diet

Much like the various diets of animals, Mer can sample and eat a wide variety of foods being omnivorous. They can eat lander food which is cooked and baked, many enjoy lander treats and confections. A majority of a mer diet relies on the bounties from the sea. Hunting of ocean animals is normal and is coupled with gathering and foraging aquatic greens. Merfolk often set aside a plot of land to grow crops and sea fruit and cultivate sea beds for growing all manner of water flora. Some mer require supplemental blood and flesh to thrive their healthiest and hunt for lander blood, be it a land animal or a sentient lander being such as humans. Sirens and tritons are renown for stalking the shore line and or ships out to sea, tempting landers into the water to become a meal, often resulting in a frenzy feed. The blood of landers can boost a mers strength and help them heal wounds faster, and it allows them to go longer between feedings.
