Personality:  They are a headstrong and hardy people who value their freedom, community and personal honor very highly. They are usually curious and inquisitive and quite intelligent; though primitive and tribal. Orcans travel in close knit matriarchal groups called pods. Males and Females hunt side by side, and the entire pod while overseen by a "queen" of sorts, is extremely egalitarian in nature, with each Orcan having an equal say in decisions that affect the entire pod. They are consummate hunters and will travel entire oceans in search of good hunting grounds. Orcan pods often hide, live, and hunt alongside pods of full Orcas, and the two communicate freely. The only mer that truly take issue with them are Selkies, and that is largely because Orcans eat seals, and more than one Selkie has been caught by these skilled hunters. Orcans tend to get along well with most other merfolk when encountered.

Strengths: Orcans are approximately twice as strong as a human and can swim nonstop literally for days at a time. Orcans can use echolocation to navigate the waters, this extraordinarilly accurate locational system tells them who and what is near them, how large they are, how far away they are, and acts in favor of their sight in water.

Weakness: Orcans are typicaly much slower than other merfolk, and are damaged much more easily as they lack protective scales. They also tend to take longer to recover from injuries. Orcans cannot see very well, as they rely on their echolocation abilities to give them the information they would otherwise need sight for. Orcans must breathe air in order to survive, and therefore must surface frequently.
